2021 Lenten Calendar, Sustainable Suppers Webinar and more
The Environmental Stewardship Ministry is pleased to offer this calendar as a family program to engage everyone in thoughtful discussion about our relationship with God's creation and our obligations to each other. We will be sending weekly updates and a downloadable version available at our website.
This calendar is rooted in bible selections read in Mass from Ash Wednesday through Easter 2021. We hope to connect the dots between God’s word and the actions that show how to practice integral ecology in our lives. The goal of each reflection is to let God’s presence in our lives be expressed for the benefit of our neighbors near and far in the world. We hope our action statements resonate with people in all age groups and walks of life.
Sustainable Suppers: What We Eat Can Change the World (no, really)
Now that you’ve changed your light bulbs, it’s time to change your lunch!! Did you know that the food system is responsible for a third of global greenhouse gas emissions? Make your Lenten fast count. Join the Boston Catholic Climate Movement and the LCC Faith and Environment Group in a delicious way to counteract climate change from field to fork.
Thursday, February 18, 2021 7:30-9:00 PM
Speaker: Fran Ludwig, Chair of BCCM
Worcester Environmental Stewardship Ministry is pleased to support BCCM as Fran continues her webinar series with a talk on how what we eat impacts climate change. This is a thought-provoking topic of the climate change discussion and with Lent right in our midst, and we want to continue to support our friends and the sharing of information as much as possible.
Fratelli Tutti: We Are All Sisters and Brothers
Pope Francis urges us to imagine a world with all people united to fix what is broken, all working to change unjust ways, and all growing in the understanding of what benefits the whole human family. Join us for a presentation and time for reflection and sharing about how to live the teachings in Fratelli Tutti. The sessions will be led by Sr. Ruth Rosenbaum, Executive Director of CREA.
Sunday evenings during Lent,
Feb. 21-March 28, 2021 7:30-9:00 PM.
Pope Francis’ third encyclical subtitled “on fraternity and social friendship” calls for more human fraternity and solidarity and is a plea to reject wars. There is commentary on COVID-19 and how the pandemic was managed by world countries, specifically the failure to cooperate globally. We believe that a greater understanding of this encyclical can be beneficial to all.
